Andrea Bell, Director of Oregon Housing and Community Services, discussed the agency’s role in advancing housing affordability and production. The agency produced over 26,000 affordable housing units in the 2023–2025 period, aiming to reach 36,000 annually by 2025. They focus on both new construction and preservation, with a new preservation dashboard to track needs. The agency also updated its funding process, decreasing the time required to move from legislative budget approval to actual funding from one year to 60 days. Bell emphasized the importance of government efficiency and collaboration with local jurisdictions to address housing challenges.
