Portland Multifamily Rebound? Data Hints At Recovery (Portland Business Journal) [02/23/26]

Portland Business Journal commercial real estate reporter Sara Edwards turned to HFO co-founder Greg Frick and HFO’s quarterly multifamily report for a February story on a early signs of a Portland multifamily rebound. The report, built on CoStar data, found vacancy improving and transactions rising to 140 deals in 2025, with institutional buyers re-engaging even as construction permitting fell to its lowest point since the Great Recession. “It feels like we’ve hit the bottom and are slowly coming out of it,” Frick told the Business Journal.
